Aylmer granted $3-million for Talbot St. project
The Town of Aylmer has received an up to $3-million grant from the Ontario government for the total reconstruction of Talbot Street West from Myrtle Street to Holland Avenue.
The grant announcement was made on Friday, April 1, confirmed town Administrator Jennifer Reynaert.
The money comes from the Ministry of Transportation’s new Connecting Links program and will fund up to 90 percent of total eligible project costs up to a maximum of $3-million.
“We are very pleased to have received the maximum allowed under the program,” Ms. Reynaert said. “This has been identified as a priority project in the town’s large infrastructure priority list.”
She said engineering and design work on the project would be done later this year with the major portion of construction scheduled for 2018.
The work will include road reconstruction along with new water mains and sewers.
