Residents forced to leave Brookside Manor
Fourteen residents of Brookside Manor Retirement Home in Aylmer were forced last Wednesday, Jan. 22 to find new homes by the end of the day on Friday.
Staff from South West Community Care Access Centre were at the Talbot Street East home on Thursday and Friday, helping residents and their family members ensure appropriate care was in place while relocation arrangements were being made.
All of the residents had found either temporary or permanent accommodations by the end of the day on Friday.
Brookside Manor, a private business, two and a half blocks east of John Street, was forced to close by following the Retirement Homes Regulatory Authority’s refusal to license the operation. An appeal by the owner was dismissed by the Licence Appeal Tribunal on Jan. 8.
