Ross Dodington

DODINGTON, Ross – Peacefully of heart failure, with family by his side at Woodstock Hospital on Tuesday, April 5, 2022, Ross Gordon Dodington, of Aylmer, Ontario in his 81st year. Lovingly remembered by his wife of 60 years, Linda; children, Barbara and JD “James” (Lori); and grandchildren, Dylan, Chase and Austin. Dear brother of Paul (the late Nora) and John (Mardi) Dodington. Beloved uncle of Vicky, Amy, Leigh, Erin, Andrew, Hannah, Michael, Elayne, Scott, Lisa, and Hayley.
Ross began working on pipe organs as a summer job in 1960 in Toronto, when he was in high school. He started his own organ service business in the 1970s, working with Linda, and eventually his children and grandchildren. He became the Southwestern Ontario Representative for Casavant Frères organ builders in 1982. Ross was also a gifted singer. He sang with the Festival Singers of Canada for 18 years under the direction of Elmer Iseler, touring throughout North America and Europe. He was bass soloist with First-St. Andrew’s United Church choir for 38 years. In his spare time, he enjoyed playing country music with Linda and the family; people loved to hear him sing George Jones and Elvis. He also treasured time with family at their cottage in Muskoka.
Visitation on Monday, April 18 from 7-9 pm at First-St. Andrew’s United Church, 350 Queens Avenue, London, where the memorial service will be conducted on Tuesday, April 19 at 11 am. Memorial contributions to Friends of Music at First-St. Andrew’s United Church would be appreciated. Please note that the Covid admission protocol including proof of vaccination and mask wearing is still required at the church.
