Abel Huisman

Huisman, Abel of Aylmer passed away at St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital on Sunday, January 7, 2024 in his 91st year. Best friend of Theresa McGregor. Beloved husband of the late Henrietta(VanDyk) Huisman. Dear father of Theresa Thomas of London and Dan Huisman of Aylmer. Loving grandfather of Jennifer and Susan and great-grandfather of Evan.  Brother of Jan, Hank, Otto, Louise and Greg(Barbara).  Also survived by a number of nieces and nephews.  Predeceased by siblings Pete, John, Charles, Joe, Albert, Ted, Joanne Sym and Rita Stuyt.  Born in Makkun, Holland on February 7, 1933, son of the late Gosse and Theresia(Potma) Huisman. Abel worked for 30 years at Carnation Milk and later drove school bus.  He was a member of Our Lady of Sorrows R. C. Church and the church choir and enjoyed keeping active at the Pleasant Valley Golf & Country Club. He took great pride in caring for his lawn and loved riding his bicycle. Visitation will be held at the H.A. Kebbel Funeral Home, Aylmer on Wednesday from 5-8:00 p.m. The funeral mass will be held at the Our Lady of Sorrows R. C. Church on Thursday, January 11, 2024 at 10:00 am. Interment, Queen of Peace Cemetery. Donations to the Diabetes Association or Our Lady of Sorrows R.C. Church would be appreciated.
