Measles warning issued
Elgin St. Thomas Medical Officer of Health Dr. Joyce Lock is warning anyone from this area who attended a recent event at the Church on the Queensway (formerly Queensway Cathedral) in Toronto to check their measles immunization records.
Someone not from this area who was at the “Acquire the Fire” event Feb. 6 and 7 had developed measles, she said.
Anyone who was there who didn’t have immunization, at least two doses of themeasles, mumps and rubella vaccine, should stay at home, away fromm babies, pregnant women and other vulnerable individuals until Feb. 28, or until fully immunized, she said.
Symptoms include rash and fever, cough, running nose or inflamed eyes, she added. Anyone with such symptoms should contact their physician or the health unit.
