Fifth career win for Schiller at Springbank

Jeff Schiller, formerly of the New Sarum area and now of London, has been competing at the Springbank Road Races for 11 years, and this year won his fifth career victory in the elite men’s division.

Mr. Schiller, 32, a graduate of East Elgin Secondary School, is now a physical education teacher at Montcalm Secondary School in London. He also operates Epic Sports Performance, a personal sports coaching business.

He said that while the elite men’s field at Springbank was still competitive, the number of cyclists entered was much lower than it used to be. He blamed the lack of young athletes pursuing the sport given doping scandals in recent years.
