Nathan Wagler

Nathan D. Wagler (Uncle Nate), 59, passed away on January 22, 2026, in London, Ontario.

He was born on December 16, 1966, in Aylmer, Ontario, to David and Ida Mae Wagler.

Nathan was preceded in death by his parents, David Wagler (d. 2018) and Ida Mae Wagler (d. 2014); and two brothers, Joseph Wagler (d. 2019) and Titus Wagler (d. 2024).

He is survived by his siblings:
Sister Rosemary and Joe Gascho of Aylmer, Ontario;
Sister Magdalena and Ray Marner of Due West, South Carolina;
Sister-in-law Iva Mae Wagler (Joseph) of Sarasota, Florida;
Sister Naomi and Alvin Yutzy of Huntsville, Arkansas;
Brother Jesse and Lynda Wagler of Abbeville, South Carolina;
Sister Rachel and Lester Yutzy of Hutchinson, Kansas;
Brother Stephen and Wilma Wagler of Bird-in-Hand, Pennsylvania;
Sister-in-law Ruth Wagler (Titus) of Bloomfield, Iowa;
Brother Ira Wagler of Due West, South Carolina;
Sister Rhoda and Marvin Yutzy of Arlington, Kansas.

At the age of nine, Nathan moved with his family from Aylmer, Ontario, to Bloomfield, Iowa. He spent his childhood exploring the rolling hills of the family’s 360-acre farm, often on horseback with his siblings.

Nathan had a special love for children, especially his 59 nieces and nephews, and he was dearly loved in return as “Uncle Nate.” In the early 1990s, he served for two years as a chief at Fairplay Wilderness Boys Camp in South Carolina, a role that reflected his care for young people and his love of the outdoors.

Around that same time, Nate owned and operated a construction business where he employed several of his nephews during difficult seasons of their lives. Nate provided them with a job and a place to stay whenever they needed it.

Nathan was an incredible story teller, and he loved to share stories from his childhood. He repeated his favorites so much that everyone knew the punchline long before he reached it, but “Uncle Nate stories” were never boring.

Throughout his life, Nathan lived in several states, including Florida, Indiana, Arizona, and Kansas, before returning to Canada, where he spent his final days. In his last few years there, he shared a close friendship with his nephew Ivan Gascho and family, and he often spent holidays in their Ontario home.
