Trout season starts at Springwater
Catfish Creek Conservation Authority Conservation Areas Supervisor Ed Pietrzak helped stock Springwater Pond with Rainbow trout on Friday morning, April 24 leading up to the start of fishing season the next day (Saturday, April 25) starting at 6 a.m. The trout were supplied by Rainbow Springs Trout Hatchery of Thamesford through the annual $1,000 donation by the Order of Good Cheer. Fishing at Springwater Conservation Area is free for children aged 12 and under and their parents and guardians are able to enter the park for free if they aren’t planning to fish themselves, Mr. Pietrzak said. An Ontario fishing licence is required for anglers between the ages of 18 and 65. Those casting lines are allowed to keep two fish per day. Springwater will host the annual Tim Hortons Kids Trout Derby on Saturday, May 9 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
