Aylmer to look into Malahide’s request for police service costing
Aylmer councillors on Monday, April 18 sent a request from their Malahide counterparts for a service costing quote by the Aylmer Police to the Aylmer Police Services Board “to review and to provide costing details back to council.”
The Malahide resolution, approved during that council’s April 7 meeting, outlined that the township currently received policing services from the Ontario Provincial Police, the cost of which had “increased significantly in the last several years.”
Aylmer is in the midst of obtaining a quote for police service from the OPP, a process that had essentially just begun with the creation of a local Joint Advisory Committee to work with the OPP on the costing and the hiring of former Aylmer police chief and Ontario Police College director Rudy Gheysen as the committee facilitator.
