John Hermsen

Hermsen, John ofSpringfield passed away peacefully at home on Friday, July 31, 2026. He was 77 years old. Beloved husband of Rita (Moreau) Hermsen. Dear father of Lisa Hermsen of Ottawa and John Hermsen of Springfield and loving grandfather of Henri and Quinn. Brother of Anne Howey (Jim) and Robert Hermsen (late Betty) and brother-in-law of Louise Copeman (late Bill), Michele Moreau (Janice) and Leo Moreau (Alida). He will be missed by a number of nieces and nephews. Born in Groesbeek, The Netherlands on September 18, 1948, son of the late John and Joanna (van Os) Hermsen. Since 1960, John farmed with his family in Springfield.  His unwavering dedication to the land reflected his quiet determination and deep appreciation for the farming way of life.  A celebration of John’s life will be held at Malahide Community Place, Springfield on Sunday, August 16, 2026 from 1-4:00 p.m. with prayers and words of remembrance at 3:00 p.m. Cremation-burial, Queen of Peace Cemetery.
