It is with deep sadness that the family of Mildred Starling (Locke/Heffren) announce that she has peacefully passed away at Georgian Bay Hospital, with family by her side, on Saturday, December 9th, 2023 in her 80th year.
Beloved wife of Barry Starling for 34 years and loving mother to Susan Cable, Shirley Patterson (Rick Hamilton), Shelley Wilson (Chris DiPietro), Heather Laken, Jonathan Laken (Dawn Brooks), Lewis Heffren, Lucas Heffren, Brian Starling (Janet Dubeau) and Steve Starling (Julie). She will be dearly missed by her many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Dear sister of Curtis Locke of St. Thomas. Predeceased by brothers Alvin Locke and Mervin Locke and sisters Gladys Acker, Kathleen Kirkey, Elvie Smyth and Alma Wilson.
Millie was born December 20th, 1943 in Shelburne, Nova Scotia, daughter of the late Roland and Laura Locke. She moved to Ontario as a child and grew up in Port Burwell. She later moved to Aylmer where she worked mainly on tobacco farms. She spent the last half of her life living happily in Barrie and Elmvale with her husband. Millie loved her family greatly and her dogs just as equally, Johnny Cash (JC), Chico Rodriguez and JR. Although she was well known for making the best peanut butter cookies around, she was best known for the amount of love she had for her dogs.
Cremation to follow with interment at a later date.
