Stacking for a world record at New Sarum PS
Grade 8 pupil Gage Clements was among dozens of children who participated in New Sarum Public School’s entry in the annual World Sport Stacking Association’s annual Guinness Book of World Records effort for the “most people stacking at multiple locations in one day” on Thursday afternoon, Nov. 17. The goal for this year’s cup stacking world-wide was to have a total of 625,000 people stacking during the calendar day for a 30 minute period. Last year’s record breaking total was 618,394 people stacking cups in various ways and patterns. New Sarum Public School teacher Lynn Van Roestel organized the event and said the record breaking attempt that day included 42 different countries. She said most pupils in the school from Kindergarten to Grade 8 stacked cups that afternoon.
