Rose Gotzmeister

Gotzmeister, Rosalia “Rose” of Aylmer passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, September 26, 2026. She was 94 years old. Wife of the late George Gotzmeister(2003). Dear mother of Helen Mazurka(Bob) of Conestogo and Dan Gotzmeister(Dorothy) of Aylmer. Loving Oma of Amber, Andrew(Brittney), Matthew(Tanya), Raegan, Derek(Julie), Jacob, Nickolas and big-Oma to Taylor, Travis, Emmett, Mason, Elliot, Henry and MiaRose. Sister of Fred Siebenmorgen(late Susanna) and Otto Siebenmorgen(Alexandra). She will be missed by a number of nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her son George G. Gotzmeister(2011) and many brothers and sisters. Born in Windthorst, Yugoslavia on January 7, 1932, daughter of the late Gottfried and Johanna Siebenmorgen.

Rose was forced to flee her family home in 1944 and was separated from her 10 siblings in the process. She lived for a time in Austria before emigrating to Canada in 1952. She was remarkably determined, and proceeded to locate and reunite her family in the years that followed.

Rose was a hardworking tobacco farmer with George for 50 years. Her tireless work ethic rubbed off on those around her, and was the single reason why she always had at least one chore for anyone who visited.

Not one to sit idle, she started Rose’s B&B at age 71. Rose will be remembered for her love of family and hospitality. Shown time and again by her baking and cooking, she loved to feed people. Rose loved to travel – from North America to Europe to Australia, twice! Visiting friends and relatives. She was an active member of St. John’s Lutheran Church and the German Canadian Club.

The funeral service will be held at the H.A. Kebbel Funeral Home, Aylmer on Wednesday, September 30, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. with visitation one hour prior. Cremation-burial, Aylmer Cemetery.
