Reuben Emery Silverthorn

 July 3, 1943 – Sept. 16, 2024

With heavy hearts, the family of Emery Silverthorn announce his passing at his home in Tillsonburg on Monday, September 16, 2024 at the age of 81 years.  Beloved husband and best friend of Marjorie (McFarlane) Silverthorn for over 57 years.  Proud and loving father of Joyce Hussey (Will), Joe Silverthorn (Holly) and Jim Silverthorn.  Cherished grandpa of Matthew Hussey, Sarah Hussey (Nick), Marcus Hussey, Hannah Lindsay (Damon) and Carson Silverthorn.  Dear brother of Frances Martinkevicius and brother-in-law of Donna Catt, Isabelle Bynsdorp (Bill), Shirley Bynsdorp (John), Patricia Thomson and Vera Silverthorn.  Emery is also survived by many nieces and nephews.  Predeceased by his parents Joseph and Alice (Saxton) Silverthorn, his infant son Neil Silverthorn, brother Frank Silverthorn, brothers-in-law Tony Martinkevicius, Floyd Catt and Jim Thomson.

In keeping with Emery’s wishes, his body has been bequeathed to science.  Friends and relatives will be received at Ostrander’s Funeral Home, 43 Bidwell Street, Tillsonburg (519-842-5221) on Saturday, September 28, 2024 from 1:00 pm -2:00 p.m.  A Masonic Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. under the auspices of Vienna Lodge #237.  The Memorial Service for Emery will follow with Pastor Troy Van Ginkel officiating.   Memorial donations to the Parkinson’s Foundation, Lung Association or Epilepsy Canada may be made directly online or by contacting Ostrander’s Funeral Home.
