John Plaskett

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of John Plaskett, who passed away peacefully at his home, on April 23, 2025.

Born in Stratford on August 4, 1939, to Victor and Norine (nee Everett) Plaskett.

Beloved husband and best friend of Marlene (Willmore) for 62 years. Loving father of Jacqueline (Blair) Bossuyt and Steven (Jenn) Plaskett. Cherished and proud grandfather of Scott (Ashton) Bossuyt, Matthew (Alicia) Bossuyt, and Jack Plaskett. Devoted great-grandfather to Boone and Caleb Bossuyt. John will be missed by his sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, and many nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents and his in-laws, Jack and Din Willmore, John was predeceased by his sister, Jane MacVicar, brother-in-law Gary Dennis, and two of his nephews, Kevin Dennis and Keith Willmore.

Family always came first for John, and he will be remembered for his loving, kindhearted and humble nature towards everyone. He was an avid fisherman and loved the outdoors. He also enjoyed hockey, especially watching his son and grandsons play.

John was a bank manager at various locations across Ontario, making long lasting friendships along the way.

John received exceptional care over the last few years, with a special thanks to the Westmount Dialysis staff, and his palliative care team, especially Diane and Natalie.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date at the W.G. Young Funeral Home, 430 Huron Street Stratford. In lieu of flowers, donations in John’s memory may be made to the Ronald McDonald House and can be made through the funeral home.
