Bruce Gillespie

Gillespie, Bruce Reid, of Port Hope passed away peacefully at Northumberland Hills Hospital, Cobourg on Saturday, December 10, 2022 in his 92nd year.  Beloved husband of Faye (Durrell) Gillespie.  Dear father of Karen Hueston (John), David (Cindy), Richard (Florida), Paul (Christina), and Carol McCreesh (Colin). Proud and loving grandfather of Brett (Krista), Renee, Eric, Jessica (Noah), Jocelyn, Scott, Benjamin, Kennedy, Gracey, Michael and Gillian. Great grandfather of Henry, Emerson and Lillian.

Born in Ingersoll on March 24, 1931, son of the late George and Edith (Revell) Gillespie.  Bruce attended Albert College in Belleville, where he liked to say, “he majored in basketball and football.”

He lived most of his youth in London where he met his wife Faye in high school.  They recently celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary.

Bruce had a long and successful career in the tire industry, owning tire stores in Aylmer, St.Thomas and London.  He also spent many years in sales management and senior management with Firestone Canada.

Bruce retired in Port Hope, an avid tennis and croquet player. He also enjoyed gardening and spending time with his family and friends.

A private family gathering will be held in Port Hope at Allison Funeral Home.
