Mary Elizabeth Pressey-Newland
Pressey-Newland, Mary Elizabeth of Eden gained her angel wings with her family by her side at the Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital on Thursday, March 8, 2018 in her 89th year. Beloved wife of the late Charles Newland (2013) and the late Leo Pressey (1992). Loving mother of Larry Pressey (Eileen) of St. Thomas, Phyllip Pressey (Roberta) of London, Elizabeth Allen (Brian) of Richmond, Roger Pressey (Nancy) of Tillsonburg, Dean Pressey (Kim) of Eden and Kimberley Burgess (John) of Cranbrook, B.C. Stepmother of David Newland (Gayle), Katherine Platt (Larry) and Anne Gilbert (Gary). She will be missed by son-in-law Marvin Luce and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Sister of John (Elaine) Brown. Predeceased by daughter Colleen Luce (2017) and daughter-in-law Lenora Pressey (1997), sister Dorothy (Percy) Welter, brother Bob (Delores) Brown. Born in Brownsville, Ontario on May 12, 1929, daughter of the late Clifford “Pat” and Elizabeth (Starkey-Bagnall) Brown. Mary was the rock and pillar of the family. She loved having a house full of people and was always eager to bake or make a meal. She had a large extended family and warmly welcomed everyone into her home. Mary volunteered in many ways, including wrapping Christmas presents annually at the Tillsonburg Mall. She enjoyed quilting, knitting, crocheting, painting, pickling, gardening and loved to dance! Mary was a member of the Arkess Rebekah Lodge #168 I.O.O.F. Springfield and a Past Noble Grand. She was a devoted member of the Eden Baptist Church. For the past 60 years Mary served cookies and baked goods to the residents of Elgin Manor. The funeral service was held Monday, March 12 at the H. A. Kebbel Funeral Home, Aylmer. Cremation has taken place. Interment at a later date in the Springfield Cemetery. Donations to the Eden Baptist Church or the Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital would be appreciated.
