Lou Dykxhoorn
On April 26, 2025, the Lord took home our dear dad, grandpa and great-grandpa Lawrence “Lou” Dykxhoorn at Dorchester Terrace Retirement Home, one day shy of his 90th birthday. He was born on April 27, 1935, in Nootdorp, the Netherlands. Lou immigrated to Canada with his family in May 1949 and they eventually settled in the Springfield area in 1952. Lou and wife Sadie(Wymenga) (+1986) purchased the home farm Silverridge in 1962. He had a great passion for farming and the Holstein cow. He served as a director of the Elgin County Holstein Club and Western Ontario Breeder Inc. He served as a deacon at the Aylmer Christian Reformed Church where he was a lifetime member. Lou also enjoyed bowling and curling for many years and meeting with friends at Tim Hortons.
Beloved husband of Willy(deRegt) for 27 years. Dear father of Charlie(Irene), Marjorie(George), Roy and Lawrence (+2005). Loving grandfather of Daniel(Janina), Sandra, Greg(Rhonda), Karla(Bryan), Jason(+1982), Crystal(Phil), Jamie(Kate), Kalvin(Melanie), Dennis(Martina), Carl(Megan), Madison(Cody) and 19 great-grandchildren. Loving step-father of Sandra(Karst) and step-grandfather of Marieke(Nelson), Andre(Marissa) and 3 step-great-grandchildren. He is survived by his brother Jack(Ruby) and a number of nieces and nephews. Predeceased by brother Neil and sisters Sophia, Peggy, Coby and Nelly.
Visitation will be held at the H. A. Kebbel Funeral Home, Aylmer on Tuesday, April 29, 2025 from 2-4:00 p.m. and 6-8:00 p.m. Friends and family are invited to attend the graveside committal service at the Aylmer Cemetery on Wednesday, April 30, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. The funeral service will follow at the Aylmer Christian Reformed Church on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. Donations to Immanuel Christian School would be appreciated.
