Cecilia Antonissen

Antonissen, (VanDeCappelle) Cecilia of Sparta passed away peacefully at Elgin Manor on Monday, June 23, 2025. Cecilia (87) was joyfully reunited with her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ and her husband of 62 years. Lovingly married to Pierre “Jerry” on April 2, 1959 they were blessed with a daughter Tammy (partner Gary) of Aylmer and two loving sons Rick (Shirley) of Aylmer and Kelly (Tracey) of Sparta.

Doting grandmother of Christina Hodgins (Kevin), Jesse Mannell (Kim), Stephanie Duplan (Matt), Craig Antonissen (Kaela), Kelsey Antonissen (partner Devin) and Alex Antonissen (partner Jadi). Proud great-grandma to Kailey, Madison, Brantley, Colson, Maverick and Mia. Predeceased by a loving sister Alice DeCoene (2011) and a dear brother Roger VanDeCappelle (2018).

Cecilia was born April 14, 1938, to the late Achiel and Martha VanDeCappelle and resided on Sparta Line for over 75 years. She and her husband were tobacco farmers for many years and founded Antonissen Trucking. Cecilia was first and foremost a devoted homemaker, member of the Catholic Women’s League since 1970 and was also involved in the Aylmer Horticultural Society. Hobbies and activities included gardening, sewing, quilting, knitting, crocheting, canning, baking, ceramics, paper tolle and crafting. She made and decorated many professional cakes for events. She traveled to Florida, Arizona and Western Canada with friends. Later years were spent playing bingo and visiting casinos with special lifelong friends Judy and Andy Lesage. She will be forever remembered for her friendships, conversation and coffee breaks when everyone who visited was treated like family.

Visitation will be held at the H.A. Kebbel Funeral Home, Aylmer on Thursday, June 26, 2025 from 6-8:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Friday, June 27, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. Interment, Queen of Peace Cemetery.
