Bud was an elementary school teacher at various schools in St. Thomas and retired from Homedale Public School in 1998. He was a very active athlete throughout his life as he played football, baseball, basketball, hockey, golf and curling. He excelled at each sport as he was known to practice and practice to perfect his skills. Bud coached many school sports with an emphasis on basketball. He was often seen at high school gyms or hockey arenas watching and cheering on past students and his grandkids. He also volunteered his time coaching minor hockey for many years where he positively impacted players at various ages through his “Westy Workouts” in the early mornings. Bud was an avid cottager up in the Haliburton Highlands for the past 49 years where he enjoyed his time with family and friends during the summer. Over the years of retirement, he enjoyed his time golfing and meeting for either breakfast or lunch to kibitz and tell a few stories with his buddies. We will all miss his stories and his big personality.
