Marie Van Gulck
Van Gulck, Marie Madeleine (nee Heyrman) (April 7, 1940 – August 12, 2025)
It is with great sadness, that we the family of Marie Madeleine (Heyrman) Van Gulck, wish to announce her peaceful passing at AgeCare, Aylmer, on Tuesday, August 12th, 2025, at the age of 85. Marie was a former resident of Straffordville. Predeceased by her much-loved husband of almost 55 years, Sylvere (September 13, 2019). Sylvere and Marie are remembered for their well-renowned Van Gulck’s Bakery in Straffordville that had a clientele from far and wide for all those who treasured their Belgian pastries and bread. The Van Gulck’s were very proud of their Belgian Heritage, and their bakery was an outstanding representation of Belgian and European cultures. Sylvere and Marie operated their bakery for 43 years until retirement.
Marie will be remembered as a dedicated mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to many. Always a caring mother to Terry-Ann and Troy Chute, of Langton. Dedicated grandmother to Charissa (husband Paul Stefan) and their daughters Quinn and Scarlett; Kristen (husband Mat Stangen) and their daughters Blakely, Brooklyn, and Alexandra. Also survived by her sister-in-law Gilberte Van de Perre, and her brothers Hilaire (Marie-Josée) Heyrman, François (Christiane) Heyrman, and André (Godelieve) Heyrman all of Beveren-Wass, Eastern Flanders, Belgium, and by her brother-in-law Boudwyne (‘Bud’) Van Gulck, of Tillsonburg and by several nieces, nephews and cousins. Predeceased by her sister-in-law Mariette Van Gulck (2018), brother-in-law Edward Van Gulck (2012), brother Hector Heyrman (2004), sister-in-law Patricia Van Gulck (2003), and brother-in-law Theophil (‘Theo’) Van Gulck (2001).
A private family viewing has taken place. Everyone who knew Marie are invited to attend a public visitation on Monday, August 18, 2025 between 6:30 pm and 9:00 pm in the Maurice J. Verhoeve Funeral Home Chapel, 262 Broadway, Tillsonburg. A Public Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, August 19th, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. in St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, 51 Venison St. W., Tillsonburg by Rev. Fr. Seejo John. Interment followed in the Tillsonburg Cemetery.
