Hilda DeVries

DeVries, Hilda of Aylmer, Ontario passed into glory to be with her Lord and Saviour, surrounded by her family on Monday, January 5, 2026 at St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital. She was 87 years old. Beloved wife of Jack DeVries for 60 years. Dear mother of Monica Walraven, Ken DeVries (Alyson), Irene Schaafsma (James) and Nancy DeVries (Brad Stephen). Cherished Oma of Esther, Hannah, Caleb and Joel. Lovingly remembered by her brother Wieb deVries (Jannie) and brother-in-law Harm Westers in The Netherlands. She will also be missed by her nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her brother Wim and sisters Rieki, Wil, Paulien and Riet. Hilda was born in Ermelo, The Netherlands, on August 10, 1938, daughter of the late Wiebe and Pouwelina DeVries-Gelderloos. Hilda generously volunteered her time at St. Thomas Community Christian School, World Renew and Mission Thrift Store—from which she had just retired after 18.5 years.

Visitation will be held at the H.A. Kebbel Funeral Home in Aylmer, Ontario on Friday, January 23, 2026 from 6:00-8:00 PM. The Celebration of Life will be held at Bethel United Reformed Church on Saturday, January 24, 2026 at 11:00 AM. Private family interment at Aylmer Cemetery.
