Mom has been given the peace she has wanted for so long. Mom passed away at her home in Maple Manor, Tillsonburg, in her 95th year, on Sunday, July 21, 2024. She was predeceased by her husband Lloyd and her son Lloyd (“Butch”). Helen is survived by her daughters Deborah Andrews (David), Susan Chivers (John), Nadine Belous (John), her grandsons Nathaniel and Nigel Andrews, her great-granddaughter Sophia and her son-in-law Douglas Andrews.
Helen was born in Alderson, Alberta, on January 9, 1930 to her parents Michael and Anna Hillner, the middle child of seven, and the first of her family to be born in Canada.
Helen was predeceased by her brothers Michael and George Hillner, sisters Anna Mickle, Sarah Hillner, Herta Wolford and is survived by her sister Martha McCurdy.
Helen worked in the camera department for Lovers at their News and Camera Centre in Tillsonburg for many years, but she was first and foremost a home maker. Helen was an incredible cook, an accomplished quilter and seamstress and a supportive friend to many. She was loved and will be missed.
Friends and relatives will be received by Helen’s family at Ostrander’s Funeral Home; 43 Bidwell Street, Tillsonburg (519-842-5221) on Friday, July 26, 2024, from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00pm. The Funeral Service for Helen will be held on Saturday July 27, 2024, at 1:00pm in Ostrander’s Funeral Home Chapel.
